11 mile circular route taking in the slate quarries at the top of the 467m high Foudland Hill where slate was quarried from the 1750's until the 1890's. The slate supplied many roofs in the area including Balmoral Castle. Evidence of the quarries and spoil heaps remain evident to this day and the local owner has extracted some to improve the road over the hill during tree planting operations.
